Proposed Programme For Reunion On 17-19th June 2010

Dear friends,

Just to report a little on the dinner cum discussion on the 30th Dec (last Wed). It was unfortunate that not many of us could make it, Robert, couldn't come as his father was admitted to the hospital. Do pray for him. Reuben had a wedding dinner, Gwen, Phyllis also had another commitment and I had to attend a colleague's retirement party (only remembered on the day itself). I only managed to drop by for a short while. Luckily I met up with Gwen and had an earlier discussion the night before....

The ones who came for the discussion were Tuck Wing, David, Patrick and Joseph...was hoping to hear the latest from them but I thought I will just email the skeleton/outline of the activities that were discussed...please add on as we go along.

a) The key point is we suggest the dates to be on 17-19, so that on Sunday everybody get to recover before the children go to school on the 21st.

b) Please have a look at the suggested program. By the way, I didn't include Bro Pete in this email, as we might want to discuss when to invite the teachers for the activities (from day 1 or only for the reunion dinner? For Bro Pete, as he is coming from outside Sandakan, I suggest we invite him from Day 1 --- up to him to choose?) Suggest also to provide accommodation for the 18th night for all the teachers.. so they don't need to drive back in the middle of the night.

c) We need Robert's input, whether the times suggested for the activities are alright...no idea if 3pm at RDC is fine, or 2pm at Labuk Bay is suitable...he'll need to rearrange if not..

d) By the way, is it correct to call it St. Mary's Class of 1976 to 1980? (does it mean all the students - how many are there? or is it your particular class that was selected for science stream?)

e) Can everyone indicate who will be attending (with wife, children - do give their names and ages)...

f) Activities for children for reunion dinner night. Patrick - can you plan activities for the kids (or together with Reuben ---anyone else you can think of?)

g) Accommodation - Robert to let us know the details ( how much is the rate per room, etc...)

Please add if you can think of any other things. Please check your email as I couldn't insert the programme here..

Happy New Year 2010!

Best regards
Chu

Class trip

Hey all,
I decided to get productive by putting up another posting. Must be feeling guilty.
In any case, remember I mentioned about digging up an album of some of the pictures from our school days.
I found this one. I think this one was taken when we were on a field trip to Sepilok though I can't remember the year. Could be in 1979 or 1980.
Unfortunately this one is not too clear because I re-shot the picture with my camera and tried my best to improve the image quality which still not amounted to much. Oh well.
But among those in the picture is Lu Wai Leong, David Leong, yours truly, Tong Wai Cheong, Ahmad Lazuardi, Mike Govind and I think part of Jewan Singh.

I hope to get more pictures scanned and post them soon (as in before we all turn 50 :-) )

Till the next time, stay well.

Ruben

Long over due.

First of all, did I ever reveal to anyone that my speciality is procrastination. Yup, that is so obvious that I'm only posting pictures of our Oct 27 mini gathering at Hong Kong Restaurant only now.

And also that I felt guilty after seeing Chu's recent posting about the gathering. Amid the good food and a few beers and stout, we had a great conversation that inevitably drifted towards our favourite subject of politics and politicians and more importantly as Chu said, about our proposed reunion in Sandakan next year.

It all began when Robert was sharing with us about he and his wife's move to buy over a bed and breakfast operation at Sepilok which we have since decided to call a resort.

In any case, we thought it would be good idea to have a reunion had have our families, a holiday trip so to speak. The reunion itself could be a barbecue at Robert's place with everyone being able to yak and yak - fuelled with beers and wine - till late without anyone worrying about the place closing.

I've been planning to take my family to the Rainforest Discovery Centre and this planned reunion could be just the thing for a short break during the school holidays.
Lu has suggested June, I think in response to Chu's posting, it's a good time, I think...

So how about it guys?

Anyway, here's some of the pictures I took at the Oct 27 gathering.
